A 6-3 loss to Santa Fe College eliminated Polk State from this year's NJCAA DI Gulf District/FCSAA State Baseball Tournament at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland.
The Saints, however, picked up a run in the second and another in the fourth before adding four in the sixth and a final run in the eighth.
Polk State had runners at first and second with one out in the eighth, but a double play ended the threat.
The Eagles, who repeated as Suncoast Conference champions, finish the season 35-17.
"It's always heartbreaking when you lose in a tournament like this," said Head Coach Al Corbeil.
"They had a great season, and no one can take that away from them. But when you get into this tournament you have to play exceptionally well, and we didn't do enough of that, and on a couple balls we hit tonight we didn't get a break.
"But I don't completely value success in what we're doing just in terms of winning these games. I'm really proud that we've moved 50 guys on to four-year programs from here, and a couple of guys have gone into the MLB draft, and we have guys with great GPAs, and we have guys graduating. And down the road that will make them more productive to society and to their families."
