Eagles baseball takes part in Great American Teach-In

As part of the Great American Teach-In, Polk State Head Baseball Coach Al Corbeil spoke to second- and third-grade students at Spessard Holland Elementary School in Bartow this morning about being a college baseball coach and the responsibilities of the profession.

Joining Corbeil, sophomore pitcher Joe Strzelecki talked about why he came to Polk State and the requirements of being a college baseball player.

In addition, sophomore infielders Brandon Gali and Kaylor Kulina visited fifth graders and discussed what it takes to be a student athlete and the importance of managing time for academics, athletics, family, and friends.

"Polk State baseball was proud to be part of the Great American Teach-In," said Corbeil.

"It's nice for our players to go out and participate in something where they can interact with kids and continue to promote the importance of academics."

The annual Great American Teach-In takes place nationwide to celebrate American Education Week. It is an opportunity to educate students about the world of work and introduce them to career options, hobbies they may not have discovered and activities never experienced. Students are exposed to topics and professions such as law enforcement, engineering, reporting, banking, child safety and more.
