Eagles open conference play with split against St. Pete

Polk State opened Suncoast Conference play on the road tonight, splitting a doubleheader with St. Petersburg College. 

In game one, the Eagles shut out the Titans 3-0. Lauren West pitched a complete game, improving her record to 7-5.  She gave up four hits and a walk while striking out two. 

Erica Morrissey enjoyed a three-for-four game, hitting a double and driving in two runs. 

Harlee Rimes had a perfect game at the plate, going three-for-three with a triple and a run scored. 

Taylor Fike (one-for-one) drove in Polk State's other run. 

The Eagles came out on the short end of a 4-2 score in the second game. 

Taylor Baker (4-3) took the loss. She hurled a complete game, giving up nine hits and four runs while walking one and striking out six. 

Rimes had two hits. Fike singled, Kacie Booth doubled, and Baker had a double and an RBI. 

The Eagles (17-13, 1-1, No. 7 in the FCSAA Softball Coaches' Poll) travel to State College of Florida, Sarasota-Manatee on Thursday for games at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
