Mary-Margaret Maggard of Lake Wales has committed to Polk State softball.

"We are very excited to have Mary-Margaret decide that Polk State is the right place for her," said Athletic Director Bing Tyus. "She is an exceptional talent."

A 2016 graduate of Lake Wales High School, Maggard hit .476 with nine home runs in her senior year.

She holds the school record for most career home runs with 22 and was the starting catcher on the 2013 state championship team.

Maggard earned All-County honors four times and was named 6A Player of the Year in 2016.

She was also named Second Team All-State and selected for the All Star Game.

A member of the National Honors Society, Maggard graduated with high honors.
