Eagles top Titans twice

Polk State swept a pair of games from Eastern Florida State University today in Winter Haven. 

Maddie Scott pitched a complete game as the Eagles won the opener 5-1. She held the Titans to two hits in seven innings, walking one and striking out five. 

Trailing 1-0, the Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning. 

Jada Wesley led off with a double and scored on a single by Kelsey Armstrong, who took second on a throw home. She advanced to third on a sacrifice fly by Heather Novis

Andrea Farley then beat out an infield single, putting runners on the corners for Mikayla Barwig, whose bunt single scored Armstrong.   

Mary-Margaret Maggard than made it 3-1 with a single that scored Dakoda Bozeman, pinch-running for Farley. 

The Eagles added their final two runs the following inning. 

Breanna Snell singled, and pinch-runner Ashlyn Curtis stole second. She scored on an error, increasing the lead to 4-1. 

Farley made it 5-1 when her single drove in Novis. 

The Eagles collected 10 hits and left seven runners on base. 

Armstrong went 3-for-3 with a run, an RBI, and two stolen bases. 

Farley singled twice and drove in a run. 

Barwig and Maggard each had a single and an RBI. 

The Eagles stayed hot at the plate in game two, winning 9-2 on 14 hits. 

Barwig went 4-for-4 with five RBI, a home run, a double, and a run. 

Armstrong had three singles, two stolen bases, and two runs.

Baert went 3-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, and three runs. 

Farley singled twice, drove in a pair of runs, and scored a run. 

Riley Dunn singled and scored, and Novis singed and drove in a run.  

Taite Powell earned the win with a complete-game performance. In seven innings she allowed two runs on five hits. 

The Eagles (9-7) hit the road Tuesday for a pair of games at Seminole State College (No. 4 FCSAA) in Sanford.
