Eagles win fourth in a row

Polk State volleyball won its fourth consecutive match tonight, beating St. Petersburg 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-18) in Winter Haven. 

With the win, the Eagles improve to 2-0 in the Suncoast Conference. 

Elisabeth Piroli led the Eagles with 32 assists along with five digs, three blocks, two kills, and an ace. 

Yue Wu tallied 19 kills and 14 digs. 

Dayanna Teixeira had nine kills, six digs, two blocks, and an assist. 

Zoemy Barreto recorded nine digs, four kills, an ace, and an assist. 

Keisha Santana made 22 digs, two aces, and two assists. 

Laina Blanton finished with seven kills, two blocks, and one dig. 

Suheily Colon contributed three kills, three blocks, and one dig. 

Alejandra Robles added three assists and a dig. 

The Eagles (14-7, 2-0, No. 2 FCSAA, No. 9 NJCAA) have won five of their last six matches. They continue conference play tomorrow against Hillsborough Community College at 6 p.m. in Tampa. 

Looking ahead to that match, Head Coach German Del Valle said, "We have to play our game. We're playing high-level ball right now. We have to go there and play with a lot of passion, a lot of energy, and do our best. "
