Eagles drop 3-2 decision to South Florida

Polk State volleyball started Suncoast Conference play with a 3-2 loss (21-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-19, 13-5) to South Florida State College today in Avon Park. 

Kathya Garcia had 26 kills, 14 digs, and three blocks. 

Nicky Pio recorded 55 assists, 10 digs, five blocks, three kills, and one assists. 

Keisha Santana made 30 digs and an assist. 

Veronika Nemcova tallied nine kills, two digs, a block, an assist, and an ace. 

Dominika Nemcova added 10 kills, nine digs, and a block. 

Yue Wu had eight kills and an ace. 

Nicole Boots contributed eight digs and an assist. 

Alejandra Sanabria made three blocks, three digs, and one kill. 

Anilise Fitzi had eight blocks and six kills. 

Cristina Castillo finished with four digs and two assists. 

Aurora Alderman added two digs. 

The Eagles (12-4, 0-1, No. 1 FCSAA, No. 5 NJCAA) resume action Thursday when they take on State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota at 6 p.m. in Winter Haven.
