Eagles soar to fourth straight win

Polk State volleyball won its fourth straight match tonight, defeating South Florida State College 3-0 in Winter Haven. 

The Eagles won 25-15, 25-12, and 25-22. 

With the win, Polk State improves to 2-3 in the Suncoast Conference and moves into third place. 

"That was amazing," said Head Coach German Del Valle. 

"South Florida is the best defensive team in the conference, but we swung the ball, moved well, hustled, and had great effort." 

Kathya Garcia led the Eagles with 16 kills, 10 digs, three aces, two blocks, and two assists. 

Nicky Pio added 33 assists along with 11 digs, seven blocks, and two kills. 

Yue Wu made 15 kills, 14 digs, and a block. 

Cristina Castillo had seven digs, three aces, and an assist. 

Alejandra Sanabria recorded four blocks, two digs, and a kill. 

Anilise Fitzi tallied seven blocks, three kills, and a dig. 

Aurora Alderman made 11 digs and two assists. 

Veronika Nemcova contributed three kills, a block, and an assist. 

Dominika Nemcova added a kill and a block. 

Nicole Boots finished with four digs and an assist. 

The Eagles (16-6, 2-3, No. 7 FCSAA, No. 16 NJCAA) travel to Bradenton on Saturday. They'll play State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota at noon and then face Pasco-Hernando State College at 3 p.m.
